Professor of Psychology and brain sciences
JEANYUNG CHEY is the Member of the National Committee on Mental Health Policy Innovation. She has received her Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard University and is a Psychology and Brain Sciences Professor at Seoul National University (SNU).
She was the past president of Korean Psychological Association (2022-24), and proposed and consulted on introducing the national psychological services, which began in July 2024. She was also the member of the Presidential National Cohesion Committee’s Special Committee for Overcoming Suicide Crisis (2023).
At SNU, she is the director of Clinical Neuroscience Lab at SNU, and has led numerous studies on cognitive aging and dementia, protective and the risk factors for brain and mental health, such as socioeconomic status, social connection, and stress. A founding leader of the Korean Society for Neuropsychological Research, she opened South Korea’s first clinical neuropsychology lab at Samsung Hospital in 1994.
Since then, she has developed many neuropsychological tools, including the first dementia test in Korea, and was awarded the Civil Merit Medal for Contribution in Overcoming Dementia in 2022.
